چکیده

On a compact manifold with boundary, consider the realization B of an elliptic, possibly pseudodifferential, boundary value problem having a spectral cut (a ray free of eigenvalues), say R − . In the first part of the paper we define and discuss in detail the operator logB; its residue (generalizing the Wodzicki residue) is essentially proportional to the zeta function value at zero, ζ(B, 0), and it enters in an important way in studies of composed zeta functions ζ(A,B, s) = Tr(AB) (pursued elsewhere). There is a similar definition of the operator logθB, when the spectral cut is at a general angle θ. When B has spectral cuts at two angles θ < φ, one can define the sectorial projection Πθ,φ(B) whose range contains the generalized eigenspaces for eigenvalues with argument in ]θ, φ[ ; this is studied in the last part of the paper. The operator Πθ,φ(B) is shown to be proportional to the difference between logθB and logφB, having slightly better symbol properties than they have. We show by examples that it belongs to the Boutet de Monvel calculus in many special cases, but lies outside the calculus in general.

Analytic solutions for the Stephen's inverse problem with local boundary conditions including Elliptic and hyperbolic equations

In this paper, two inverse problems of Stephen kind with local (Dirichlet) boundary conditions are investigated. In the first problem only a part of boundary is unknown and in the second problem, the whole of boundary is unknown. For the both of problems, at first, analytic expressions for unknown boundary are presented, then by using these analytic expressions for unknown boundaries and bounda...

The Calderón Projection: New Definition and Applications

We consider an arbitrary linear elliptic first–order differential operator A with smooth coefficients acting on sections of a complex vector bundle E over a compact smooth manifold M with smooth boundary Σ. We describe the analytic and topological properties of A in a collar neighborhood U of Σ and analyze various ways of writing A U in product form; we discuss the sectorial projections of the ...

Pseudodifferential Methods for Boundary Value Problems

In these lecture notes we introduce some of the concepts and results from microlocal analysis used in the analysis of boundary value problems for elliptic differential operators, with a special emphasis on Dirac-like operators. We first consider the problem of finding elliptic boundary conditions for the ∂̄operator on the unit disk. The rather explicit results in this special case delineate the ...

Existence and multiplicity of positive solutions for a class of semilinear elliptic system with nonlinear boundary conditions

This study concerns the existence and multiplicity of positive weak solutions for a class of semilinear elliptic systems with nonlinear boundary conditions. Our results is depending on the local minimization method on the Nehari manifold and some variational techniques. Also, by using Mountain Pass Lemma, we establish the existence of at least one solution with positive energy.
